Do you believe in transparency, voter integrity, and biblical leadership at Second Baptist Church?

 

So do we, and that’s why we need your support.

 

In 2023, all members lost their voting rights for the first time in nearly 100 years and had no idea what was occurring.  During a hastily called, poorly advertised, and misleading “business meeting,” the less than ½ of 1% of members who attended were asked to approve sweeping governance changes. They were not given written copies of what they were voting on, and the verbal summary never disclosed that they were being asked to revoke every single members’ right to vote in the future.

 

We believe:

 

• Members deserve to see what they are voting on when asked to make a bylaw change.

• This issue can be resolved within the church, not a court of law, if Pastor Young is willing to allow a fully transparent vote.

• If the proposed changes are truly godly and good, there is no reason to hide them.

• Once all members have made an informed vote, with transparency, then the church can stand united knowing a legitimate and honorable vote occurred.

 

We are calling on church leadership to:

 

• Provide written copies of the alleged new 2023 bylaws

• Allow the full membership to vote after plenty of time to review what they are voting on

• Do what is right, with honesty and biblical integrity
